Steps
Removing the Hard Drive Backplane
Preparation
- Review the safety instructions provided with your system.
- Follow the steps outlined in the “Before working inside your system” section.
- Remove the following components:
- Cooling shroud
- Fan assembly
- All installed hard drives

Procedure
- Disconnect all SAS/SATA data, signal, and power cables from the backplane.
- Press the release tabs, lift the backplane slightly, and slide it toward the rear of the chassis to disengage it from its connectors.
- Carefully lift the backplane out of the chassis.
Installing the Hard Drive Backplane
Preparation

⚠️ Important: Only certified technicians should perform complex repairs. Unauthorized actions may affect warranty coverage.
⚠️ Cable Handling Warning: Avoid bending the control panel flex cable during installation to prevent damage.
Procedure
- Use the chassis hooks to align the backplane correctly.
- Lower the backplane into position until the release tabs click into place.
- Reconnect all SAS/SATA data, signal, and power cables to the backplane.
Post-Installation Tasks
- Reinstall the fan assembly.
- Reattach the cooling shroud.
- Reinsert the hard drives into their original slots.
