Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: ALL Db2 V13 USERS WITH DATASHARE SYSPLEXDS *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ECSA STORAGE LEAK IN Db2 Lock Manager *
    *                      TRWA STORAGE SUBPOOL                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available *
    ****************************************************************
When checking the global authentication cache, an IRLM notify
request is issued. If authentication fails after the notify
request, the agent structures are freed except for the TRWA
which was used as part of the IRLM request. This results in a
storage leak. The Lock Manager TRWA subpool storage keeps
increasing as a result of the storage leak.

The external symptom is a high number of authentication errors
signaled by either a large number of DSNL030I messages or
DSNL061I messages which each indicate a large number of
    security failure instances.

Problem conclusion

  • Db2 is updated to free the TRWA storage when authentication
    fails.
