IBM Storage Protect for Cloud
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud
- For organizations that have implemented the MFA policy for local accounts under Administration > Security, it is now possible to reset MFA for individual local users by navigating to Management > User management. Select the relevant local users, confirm their status is Activated, and click Reset MFA. Once MFA has been reset, these local users will be able to reconfigure their MFA settings on their respective devices.
- Organizations using IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Dynamics 365 can now retrieve audit records via the following methods:
- In IBM Storage Protect for Cloud, navigate to Administration > General settings and configure Integration with Microsoft Azure Event Hubs.
- In IBM Storage Protect for Cloud, navigate to Administration > App registrations and register an app with the audit.read.all permission, and then use the IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Graph APIs to retrieve details
- In accordance with the Microsoft announcement about legacy Yammer application registrations, IBM Storage Protect for Cloud no longer supports the creation or authorization of custom Viva Engage apps profiles. For organizations using IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365, if your tenant has configured a custom Viva Engage app, please contact your IBM representative for advice on any necessary next steps.
- The app profile status terminology has been updated from Expired to Invalid to better reflect the current state of the provisioning profile.
- To help you easily find the apps with delegated permissions, on the App management, Consent to Apps, and App profile details pages, the related IBM default apps are marked with the icons as below:
- Apps that utilize both application and delegated API permissions are marked with the hybrid (
) icon. - Apps that have delegated API permissions only are marked with the purebred (
) icon. - For organizations using the Viva Engage app to manage objects via IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365, you can now choose a consent method between Administrator consent and User consent.
- In Auto discovery > Scan profiles, when configuring an advanced mode scan profile to filter specific Microsoft 365 objects into a single container, you can now utilize the Equals any of and Does not equal any of conditions to set multiple values for the following criteria.

- Email address
- Group membership
- OneDrive
- Site collection property: Primary administrator, URL
- Basic user information: Department, Group membership, Username

*Note: When you configure multiple values for the Equals any of or Does not equal any of condition, separate the values with a semicolon (;).
- In Auto discovery > Scan profiles, when configuring an advanced mode scan profile to scan SharePoint site, Microsoft 365 Group / Microsoft Team / Viva Engage community, or Project site objects into a specified container, you can now use the Archive status criterion and set the Equals condition to filter sites with the Archived or Not archived status.
- In Auto discovery > Containers, when you configure settings to batch import SharePoint site objects into a selected container, you can now define the following settings:
- How would you like to handle the imported objects in auto discovery scan jobs?
- How would you like to handle the imported objects in batch import jobs?
- The backend logic for auto-discovery scan jobs has been enhanced to ignore errors caused by Microsoft 365 Groups that lack connected sites. When these groups are identified during a scan, they will be marked as Partially added in the job report and accompanied by relevant comments, but these errors will not impact the overall job status.
- Updated links in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud interfaces, job reports, and related emails to direct users to the content-sensitive pages.
- When using APIs to update customers’ subscriptions, you can now change the following:
- Configure EnableEDiscovery and MetadataType parameters to update the IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 subscription.
- Configure ArchiveModuleType and BackUpModuleType parameters to update the IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce subscription.
- Configure the SubscriptionModel parameter to update the IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Dynamics 365 subscription.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce
- After updating the data retention period for an organization, if the retention date has already passed, backup data will be retained for an additional 90 days. Email notifications will be sent before deletion.
- Restore Metadata jobs now support restoring DuplicateRules, PermissionSetGroups, Queues, and Tabs metadata.
- When configuring alert rules on the Monitor alert page, you can now edit the record scope of a selected object and apply field-level filters.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Azure and Storage
General Updates
- Retention policies for Azure VM and Azure SQL Backup now support fully customizable settings, including hourly/daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly retention configurations.
- Incremental backup is now supported for the Azure SQL Backup service.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Dynamics 365
- You can now retrieve audit logs for IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Dynamics 365 via the Public API (aos/audit endpoint) or by integrating with Azure Event Hubs.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace
- On the Storage consumption report, add Gmail (Vault), Drive (Vault), and Shared drives (Vault) for the Vault data protection.
If your organization uses the BYOS (Bring your own storage) subscription and has enabled Vault protection, you can contact IBM support to add this report for your tenant.
- The API method for retrieving job information has been enhanced to support filtering for Google Vault (including Gmail, Drive, and shared drives).
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365
- Folder-level content deletion is now supported for OneDrive backup data, in addition to item-level deletion.
- Copilot agent files in SharePoint Online/Microsoft 365 Group/Teams/Viva Engage sites can now be restored.
- The Backup Data eDiscovery function now supports OneDrive, allowing users to search across OneDrive backup data and export, restore, or delete content from a selected recovery point. To enable content-based search, contact support to upgrade your subscription (additional cost applies).
- When restoring a OneDrive library to another library, you can now select the Attach action to create a new folder named after the source username in the destination library.
- The High-Speed Migration (HSM) restore method is now available for item-level restore operations.
- Due to Microsoft’s deprecation of classic publishing sites in SharePoint Online, IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 will now restore classic publishing sites as communication sites.
- Support has been expanded for out-of-place restore operations between SharePoint sites, OneDrive, Team sites, and Group sites.
Supported scenarios include:
- Restore from Team site to SharePoint site, Group site, or OneDrive.
- Restore from Teams private/shared channel site to SharePoint site, Group site, or OneDrive.
- Restore from Group site to SharePoint site, Team site, or OneDrive.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Recovery Portal
- Teams and groups with dynamic membership are now supported and can be searched in Cloud Recovery Portal.
- The Exchange Online tile now supports Tree mode for in-place archive mailboxes. You can select either User mailbox or In-place archive, then navigate the tree structure to quickly locate and restore data.
- In both the Exchange Online and OneDrive tiles, folders that were previously backed up but later deleted from Microsoft 365 are now included in the Tree mode.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Partner Portal
- The documentation URLs within IBM Storage Protect for Cloud have been improved to be more specific, allowing users to easily navigate to the desired sections in the guide.
- Enhancements have been made to report templates, allowing you to customize content to meet your organization’s needs and include a downloadable report attachment in the email.
