Problem

Gentran login attempt fails.

Symptom

Database exception encountered upon login attempt.
ODBC DSN Test Connection fails.  SQL State: '01000'  SQL Server Error: 10061

Diagnosing The Problem

Invoke odbcad32.exe (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe) to launch ODBC Data Source Administrator > System DSN and follow the screens to  Test Connection; Test Connection fails.

Connection failed: 
SQL State: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 10061

Resolving The Problem

In ODBC DSN, in the Microsoft SQL Server DSN Configuration screen > Which SQL Server do you want to connect to? Server field, edit the Server field by entering the fully qualified server name and save the change.
For example:  fully qualified server name ABCD.corp.efgh.com instead of server name ABCD.  
ODBC DSN Test Connection successful.  Gentran login attempt successful.
