New release of IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS on Cloud - Release 1.1.2.1

New release of IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS

We are happy to announce a new release of IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS which provides changes and improvements as well as solutions for specific problems reported by our customers. Please find details on all changes and solutions in the Version 1.1.2.1 Release Notes.

Cloud users will be automatically upgraded to the latest version during the next several change windows. Notification of impending upgrades will be forthcoming to users. Our weekly change window is from 4:00 PM on Thursdays to 12:00 AM Friday Central Time.

This release may contain updates and capabilities that your site does not currently have licensed. If you are interested in adding additional functionality as described below, please contact your account manager.

Below are the most important changes that are included in IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 1.1.2.1:

1. In 2024, IMS Transaction insights were introduced in IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS. With this new release, IBM is providing the next level of capabilities for customers that run IMS. You will now be able to gain key insights into IMS Resource Usage. The new capability is a major milestone for users, who will now be able to get even more help and value in managing performance of their IMS environments.
2. With the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 1.1.2.1 release, you can now use Business Application reporting based on DCOLLECT Backup data. These functions expand the capabilities for DCOLLECT and Business Application reporting. The new data can also be used for other purposes, such as space reporting by volume and space reporting by high-level qualifier (HLQ).
3. A new variable Instruction Complexity CPI has been introduced. This variable is based on SMF 113 data. The variable reports the value for Processor Cycles per Instruction minus Finite CPI.
4. The IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS Web Reporter server has been migrated to ASP.NET core, which does not impact the user experience. However, this migration to ASP.NET core brings notable changes to the server’s deployment and configuration files. IBM manages these on Cloud Services on your behalf, however if you would like to learn more about what was changed you can refer to the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS Installation Guide.
5. These customer issues have been solved in this release:
   1. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 1.1.2.1 provides reports on zIIP efficiency. These reports include health insights that warn you when the zIIP efficiency is low. zIIP efficiency displays the percentage of eligible work that is run on zIIP. The issue in calculation by using information from RMF 70.1 and RMF 72.3 is resolved with this release. For IBM z17, new fields have been introduced in RMF 70.1 for calculations.
   2. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 1.1.2.1 uses the value from T07 (End of schedule) when the IMS Performance Analyzer (IMS PA) data includes incorrect values in field T5612 (End of phase 2 syncpoint).
   3. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS now enables you to create custom reports that use historic configuration data.
