Abstract

What is changing? Snowflake is deprecating the use of user passwords for accessing their platform. This change is part of their efforts to enhance security and protect data.

Description

Impact on IBM StreamSets Products Starting August 2025 (check detailed timeline in Snowflake documentation), IBM StreamSets’ Snowflake Integration (Impacting Data Collector, Transformer for Spark and Transformer for Snowflake) will no longer support user passwords for access. Instead, users will need to use a more secure authentication methods, such as:

  • OAuth

  • Key Pair Authentication

Why is this change happening? Snowflake is making this change to prevent unauthorized access to user accounts. Passwords can be vulnerable to phishing, cracking, and other types of attacks. By moving to more secure authentication methods, Snowflake can better protect user data. For more information, users can visit Snowflake’s documentation.
