PH67391: EMPTY CICS.XML FILE USED BY BUNDLE CAUSES THE REGION(TASK III) TO ABEND AAM4.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a cics.xml file within a bundle is empty, installing the
  BUNDLE resource causes an AAM4 abend. If this bundle is
  attempted to be installed as part of a GRPLIST, the CICS region
  (task III) abends. This results in the region shutting down, a
  dump being taken, and the following messages in the job log:
  
  DFHPC0401 applid Abend AAM4 issued by III task.
  
  DFHRL0107 I 07/02/2025 15:11:39 applid userid The CICS resource
  lifecycle manager has started to create the BUNDLE resource
  LINKLIB.
  DFHRL0110 E 07/02/2025 15:11:39 applid CSSY The CICS resource
  lifecycle manager has failed to create the BUNDLE resource
  LINKLIB.

  followed by INSTALL_BUNDLE/EXCEPTION
  

Problem conclusion

• CICS has been changed to handle the error condition and produce
  message DFHAM4936 The installation of BUNDLE LINKLIB failed
  because the manifest or file found was not valid.
  
  The CICS TS documentation will be updated for message DFHAM4936.
  
  DFHAM4936 The installation of BUNDLE resourcename
  failed because the manifest or file found was not valid.
