OA65883: LOGICAL COPY DOESN'T SUPPORT INHERIT OF STORCLAS FROM SOURCE DATA SETS ZDMF/K

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Regular zDMF migration allows the new STORCLAS for data sets
  to be inherited from the source file.  This is useful in some
  cases.  However, Logical Copy was designed to require a target
  storage class.  It should be changed to align with regular
  migration processing.

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the supplied PTF(s).                   *
  ****************************************************************
  The zDMF Logical Copy function will only assign the STORCLAS
  specified in the TARGET file STORCLAS parameter if specified.
  There is a need to allow the TARGET to use the same STORCLAS
  as the SOURCE file.
  

Problem conclusion

• zDMF Logical Copy will now use the SOURCE STORCLAS when
  allocating the TARGET if no TARGET STORCLAS is specified for
  the group.
