APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • fcstat command may hang on unused FC port
if adapter is using "cvfcdd" driver.


The following command executed from root prompt displays
the FC adapter driver:

lsdev -l fcs# -F "name,DvDr"
fcs#, cvfcdd   <<

Local fix

  • From root prompt, change "autoconfig" attribute
of the child protocol device to "defined":

rmdev -Rl fscsi#
chdev -l fscsi# -a autoconfig=defined

Problem summary

  • SFP read failure could lead to fcstat command hang

Problem conclusion

  • Modified the driver code to handle the sfp read failure
