Oracle inventory job may fail with: "Prerequisite check failure: User oracle does not have sudo privileges.

Troubleshooting


Problem

During the inventory job on IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management(SCDM), Oracle database discovery may result in failure.
Following errors are observed in the job logs.

Cause

If the version of sudo command is below the recommended level, all the parameters/switches needed for the "echo fakepass | sudo -kS -l" command are not executed as expected, resulting in error as follows.

Environment

IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management all versions on all supported platforms.

Diagnosing The Problem

Please run the command "echo fakepass | sudo -kS -l" manually with the user ID which is used for Oracle database communication in IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management.

If same errors is observed, check the sudo version with command "sudo -V".

Resolving The Problem

If the currently installed sudo version is below the minimum requirement as per the documentation, please upgrade the sudo version at least to the minimum required version.
Once the sudo version is upgraded, please run the inventory job for Oracle database from IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management.
