Abstract

The SIP Proxy issues a reverse DNS lookup for new inbound TCP and TLS connections to the SIP Proxy.

PM45352 resolves the following problem:

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Proxy is doing reverse
DNS lookups on new client connections even though security is
turned off

LOCAL FIX:
n/a

PROBLEM SUMMARY

USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM WebSphere Application
Server V7.0 and V8.0 Session Initiation
Protocol (SIP) Proxy.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The SIP Proxy issues a reverse DNS
lookup for new inbound TCP and TLS
connections to the SIP Proxy.

RECOMMENDATION:
None

The SIP Proxy issues a reverse DNS lookup for new inbound TCP
and TLS connections to the SIP Proxy. This can cause delays
processing messages.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
We removed the reverse DNS lookups at the SIP Proxy. To
enable this fix, you must add a custom property to the
SIP Proxy. In the administrative console, go to the
"WebSphere proxy servers > proxy > SIP proxy settings > Custom
properties page. Add a custom property with name
"disableAllHostNameLookups" and value "true".

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.21 and 8.0.0.2. Please refer to the
