Objective

 Moving existing LUs from Shared Storage Pool (SSP) to New SSP cluster or same SSP cluster.

Environment

VIO Server  2.x, 3.x, 4.x

Steps

Steps:
======
1)  Select All Systems ( Left Top System )
2)  Under "All Systems", select your system by selecting the selection ion on top left of system.
3)  Select Action, then view system partitons
4)  This should already show you the VIO Server partitons.
5)  Now create a new client lpar by selecting "Create Partition" next to  Filter tab on top middle of view.
6)  Enter the Partition Name, under Create New Parttion.
7)  Select Partition Type, AIX etc
8)  Select OK
9)  The view will now show the new lpar
10) Check lsmap from the VIO console using, "lsmap -all". Below showing for one VIO. Same for other VIO.
    where there will be no VTD or Backing Device assigned yet.

11) On left select "Virtual Storage"
12) Select "Virtual Storage Management"
13) Select Radio button for VIO Server you wish to map the new client profile created.
14) Select ACTIONS
15) At end of listing for "Virtual Disks" select the radio button  "Show shared storage pool storage" - If you wan to see existing LUs.
16) To create new LU, select "Create virtual disk" and complete below:
    - Virtul disk name:
    - Storage pool name:
    - Virtau disk size:
    - Assign partion: ( Created for client lpar earlier )
    - Disk Type: Thick or thin ( Note for IBMi Use THICK for better performance )
    - select both vios for dual multi-path of the client lpar.
    - close
 

18) Check "lsmap -all"
    VIO1: lsmap now shows the Backing device

17) Now dd the LU saved earlier to above created Backing Device.
    No need to run cfgdev or reboot VIOs.
    cd to /var/vio/SSP/fscluster/D_E_F_A_U_L_T_061310/VOL1
    # dd if=fslab160_root.6a1209a93a1635b10d57acb1905328ff of=rajtestvdisk22m.1b8f3396503cb1a21ccd91fcd84a6187 bs=1M count=20480
18) Now boot in SMS and select the right Volume.
19) Select ACTION, restart or active the client lpar.
