PH67058: ECI OVER TCPIP SOCKETS DO NOT GET CLOSED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• CICS expected to receive data from an ECI client but this
  timed-out (SO_SYNC_RECEIVE_FAILURE) as none was sent. This
  leaves a residual IE client and socket connection.

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Socket connections accumulate when      *
  *                      TCP/IP connections are established with *
  *                      an ECI TCPIPSERVICE but no data is      *
  *                      sent.                                   *
  ****************************************************************
  A TCPIPSERVICE is installed into CICS with a PROTOCOL of ECI.
  
  A TCP/IP connection is established causing a CIEP task to be
  attached.  No data is sent to CICS so after 30 seconds a
  DFHIE1104 message is issued, exception trace point is written
  and the CIEP task terminates.  However the socket is not closed.
  
  If this happens repeatedly then a build up of socket
  connections to the TCPIPSERVICE will occur.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFHIEIE has been updated so that the socket is closed when the
  time out occurs.
