Collecting Data: Maximo Migration Manager and Migration Collections

Troubleshooting


Problem

This document describes the process for collecting data for problems with the IBM Maximo Asset Management Migration Manager and Migration Collections problems.

There are two Applications that can Create Migrations Package Definitions. Migration Manager and Migration Collections. 
Migration Manager:  The Migration Manager application, is used to Define, Create, Distribute, Upload and Deploy package configurations from one environment such as DEV or TEST to PROD. It uses Migration Groups(many out of the box, but can be created using consumed by MIGRATIONMGR Object Structures.
Migration Collections: This application is a "pick and choose" the configurations you want to define application. The configuration records you add will decide the MIGRATIONMGR Object Structure that is applied.
Migration Groups: This application is where you can define or see ut of the box Migration Groups, such as DATADICTIONARY, BPM, SECURITY etc..
Object Structures: Only Object Structures that have a Consumed By type of MIGRATIONMGR can be used for Migration Manager applications.

Collecting this MustGather information helps understand the problem and save time analyzing the data.

  • Migration Manager
    Creating Package Issue
    • Supply the Migration Group
    • If not out of the box, supply the Object Structure that make up the Migration Group
    Distributing Packages
    •  supply mxe.dm.root system property
    • Supply the target form Manage Targets. For IBM Managed environments SRE only support File type targets
    Deploying Packages
    • Download and send in Package zip 
    • Supply mustgather logs. Logging set to dm logger =DEBUG, integration logger =INFO and sql logger =INFO

  • Troubleshooting steps
    1. Logging application dm logger =DEBUG, integration logger =INFO and sql logger =INFO
    2. Review System Properties configuration in Manage search for mxe.dm there are several properties most are fine out the box, mxe.dm.root is required.
    3. Always supply the zip package to support 
    4. Supply mustgather log(Manage)
