Removing the Hard-Drive Backplane
⚠️ CAUTION: Only perform basic maintenance or component replacement as outlined in your system documentation or as advised by official support. Unauthorized servicing may void your warranty. Always follow the safety instructions provided with your equipment.
- If present, remove the front bezel from the system.
- Power off the system and all connected devices.
- Disconnect the system from the power outlet.
- Open the system chassis.
⚠️ CAUTION: To avoid damaging the drives or backplane, all hard drives must be removed before proceeding.
💡 TIP: Label each drive before removal to ensure they are reinstalled in their original locations.
- Remove the cooling shroud.
- Remove the cooling fan assembly.
- Carefully remove all hard drives from the system.
- Disconnect all data, signal, and power cables (SAS/SATA/SSD) from the backplane.
- Press the release tabs and slide the backplane upward to remove it from the chassis.
Installing the Hard-Drive Backplane

- Use the guide hooks at the base of the chassis to align the new backplane.
- Slide the backplane downward until it clicks into place and the release tabs engage.
- Reconnect all data, signal, and power cables (SAS/SATA/SSD) to the backplane.
- Reinstall the cooling fan assembly.
- Reinstall the cooling shroud.
- Insert the hard drives into their original slots.
- Close the system chassis.
- Reconnect the power cable and any peripherals.
- Power on the system.
- If applicable, reinstall the front bezel.
