Summary

• Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU) report collects info about the SmartArray environment details, information, status and configuration.
• Hardware Validation Tool (HVT) Survey collects the following information:

a) Machine's HW configuration.
b) Installed devices.
c) Installed Code levels.

• The Integrated Management Log (IML) contains the Machine's System error logs.

Objective

The goal of this topic is to show how to capture the bundle of reports (ADU, survey, IML) offline, by using the embedded functions on Proliant/Apollo and Blade servers (C class) gen10.

Steps

 
1. Connect an USB key to the machine in order to save the reports.
 
2. Power on the machine and select “F10” Intelligent Provisioning.
 
3. Click on “Intelligent Provisioning”.
 
4. Select “Perform Maintenance”.
 

Collect ADU report

5. Select “RAID configuration”.

 

6. Select the Server for including all the available controllers discovered on the server. Then press the “Diagnose” button.
 
 
7. Select “Array Diagnostic Report”.
 
 
8. Select “Save Diagnostic Report”. ADU Report will be generated. Select the removable device (the USB stick previously installed) for saving the report.
 
 
9. Close the Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) tool pressing the “X” at the top-right corner and confirm.
 

Collect HVT survey

10. Select Hardware validation tool.

 

11. The discovery process starts, it might take several minutes.

 

12. At the end of the discovery process, select the “Export” tab for saving the survey.

13. Select the device where file will be saved. Then click Save Files.

Collect IML

IML can’t be collected booting to the “Intelligent Provisioning”. The easiest way to collect IML is through the iLO5 GUI. In case iLO5 is not reachable/configured you can collect booting the system to the pre-boot system utilities

14. Login to the iLO5 IP address via a web browser. Credentials required.

15. Click on the “Information” section and select “Itegrated Management Log” tab. 

16. Click on the CSV icon.

17. Click on the “Save” button and select the location for saving the IML report.

IML collection through the pre-boot system utilities.

14. Reboot the system and press PF9 for entering to the “System Utilities”.

15. Select “Embedded Applications” using the arrow keys and press Enter.

 

16. Select “Integrated Management Log (IML)”.

17. Select “View IML” and then press ok to confirm. Collection might take few minutes.

18. Press F12 to Save IML to the connected removable device and exit.
