Separate E‑Signature Password Required in Maximo Manage After Upgrading to Maximo Application Suite 9.x with Okta SSO (LDAP Sync No Longer Supported)

Troubleshooting

Problem

After upgrading from Maximo 7.6 to Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9.x, users are required to create a new, separate password for electronic signatures (e-signatures). In the previous Maximo 7.6 environment, the e-signature password was synchronized with the LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) password, providing a single sign-on experience for users. With MAS 9.x, which utilizes Okta Single Sign-On (SSO) for login and LDAP user synchronization, this synchronization no longer exists. Users are prompted to create a distinct password specifically for e-signatures within Maximo Manage. This change impacts user workflows and password management, especially for environments with a large number of users and frequent password updates within the identity provider.

Symptom

After upgrading to Maximo Application Suite 9.x and utilizing Okta SSO for user login:
* Users are prompted to set up an e-signature password within Maximo Manage, separate from their Okta/LDAP credentials.
* The e-signature process no longer automatically uses the user's identity provider password for verification.
* Users must manage two different sets of credentials: one for logging into MAS via Okta and another for performing electronic signatures within Maximo Manage.
