Summary

• The Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU) report collects info about the SmartArray environment details, information, status and configuration.
• The Insight Diagnostics (Survey) output collects the following information:
a) Machine's HW configuration.
b) Installed devices
c) Installed Code levels
• The Integrated Management Log (IML) contains the Machine's System error logs.

Objective

The goal of this topic is to show how to capture the bundle of reports (ADU, survey, IML) by using the embedded function “Intelligent Provisioning” on Proliant/Apollo and Blade servers (C class) Gen8 and Gen9.

Environment

Steps

1.    Connect an USB stick to the machine in order to save the reports.
2.    Power on the machine and select “F10” Intelligent Provisioning.
 
3.    Select “Perform Maintenance”.

Collect ADU report for Gen8 servers

4.  Select “Array Configuration Utility (ACU/ADU)”.

5.   Select “Diagnostics/ SmartSSD” tab.

6.   Click on the “Run Array Diagnostic Reports” button.

7.   Select the report contents (flag all contents) and click on “Generate Diagnostic Report”.

8.  Save the report. ADU Report will be saved on the previously installed USB key.

9.  Press the “Exit ACU” button at the bottom-left.

Collect ADU report for Gen9 servers

4.  Select “HP Smart Storage Administrator (SSA)”.

5.  Select the Server for including all the available controllers discovered on the server. Then press the “Diagnose” button.

6.  Select “Array Diagnostic Report”.

7.  Select “Save Diagnostic Report”. ADU Report will be generated. Select the removable device (the USB stick previously installed) for saving the report.

8.  Close the Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) tool pressing the “X” at the top-right corner and confirm.

Collect Insight Diagnostic survey and IML for both gen8 and gen9

9.  Select “Insight Diagnostics”.

10.  Press the save button.

11.  Select “Save Entire Survey (All/Advanced)” and press OK. Report will be saved on the previously installed USB key.

12.  Click on the “Log tab” and next on the “Integrated Management Log” sub-tab. Click “Save”.

The log will be saved on the USB key previously installed.

13.  Click on “Exit Diagnostics”.

14.  Remove the USB stick and reboot the server.
