Array Diagnostics Utility (ADU report)
The Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU) report collects info about the SmartArray configuration, Hard Drive information and logs of the Hard Drives and array environment.
Objective
The goal of this topic is to show how to capture the ADU report using the SmartStart CD on Proliant Servers and Blades (P & C class) Gen 1 -7 (ILO , ILO2, ILO3) and by using “Intelligent Provisioning“, the embedded function on Servers and Blades (C class) Gen 8 and up (ILO4, ILO5, ILO6).
Steps
- Procedure to capture the ADU report for Servers and Blades (P & C class) Gen 1 -7 (ILO, ILO2, ILO3)
Download the appropriate SmartStart tool for your server from the HP support web site and create a bootable CD or USB key.
Insert the SmartStart CD or USB Key, power on the system and allow the machine to boot from it. Ensure the boot priority is set to the appropriate device in F9 RBSU.
Once the machine has booted it shows the following screen. By default the log is collected in English, please don't change this. Choose the appropriate keyboard layout and click “Next“.
Select “Agree” and on the next screen click “Maintenance”.
Select “HP Array Configuration and Diagnostics“
On the “Diagnostic” tab, select the SmartArray adapter and click “Generate Diagnostic Report”.
When the ADU report has been collected, select device where you wish to save the log and click “save report”.
If a FDD isn’t present, a USB key will be needed
NOTE: the screen shots above were captured using SmartStart cd version 8.40, using other SmartStart versions, the graphics could be different, but the steps are very similar.
- Procedure to capture the ADU report on Servers and Blades (C class) Gen 8 and up (ILO4,ILO5, ILO6).
Connect a USB key to the machine in order to save the ADU report.
Power on the machine and select “F10” Intelligent Provisioning
Select “Perform Maintenance”
Select “HP Smart Storage Administrator (SSA)” or “Array Configuration Utility (ACU/ADU)”
Select the adapter
Select “Diagnose” or "Diagnostics/ SmartSSD"
Select “Array Diagnostics Report ”
Select “"Generate Diagnostic Report" and "Save Diagnostic Report “
The ADU Report will be saved on the previously installed USB key.
