Question & Answer
Question
How can I check if my system time is correctly updating when using a new NTP server?
Answer
You can see the logs of time synchronization by doing the following:
1. Run WRKLNK '/QIBM/USERDATA/OS400/TCPIP/NTP'
2. Take a 5 to display the file named QTOTxxxxxxxx (where x = today's date)
3. By default, the log updates every 30 minutes. It will compare the current IBM i time to the NTP server, and it will adjust if there is a discrepancy. You can adjust the update interval by running CHGNTPA and editing the "Client poll interval" parameter.
