Overview

IBM® SPSS® Statistics 31 is now available.

IBM SPSS Statistics is the world’s leading statistical software used to solve business and research problems by using ad hoc analysis, hypothesis testing, and predictive analytics. Organizations use IBM SPSS Statistics to understand data, analyze trends, forecast, and plan to validate assumptions and drive accurate conclusions.

The new release of IBM SPSS Statistics brings new features and improvements to help you perform statistical analysis more efficiently. Whether you are a student or a professional, these updates aim to enhance your experience and provide better tools for your data analysis needs.

Compatibility and other issues are also addressed in this release.

System requirements and installation

Known issues

  • Python3 for SPSS Statistics app icon disappears after it is opened. Instead, the Xquartz icon appears.
  • Linux users are not able to change locale in Language tab under Edit > Options.
  • Output in the following extension procedures are not getting translated:STATS EARTH,Time Series Filters, and Conditional Inference Tree
  • Installation fails when you try to install Normality Analysis procedure: Analyze>Descriptive Statistics>Normality Analysis.
  • SPSS Statistics stops responding for 3 procedures after you use the following file transformation menu items: Data>Split File, Data>Select Cases, and Data>Weight Cases

    Affected procedures: Bland Altman, Distance Correlation, and Proximity Mapping.

  • R and Python programs are compatible with RHEL 9 and above. If you use RHEL 8 or earlier versions, you may experience compatibility issues or failures when running R or Python-based scripts or any dependent services..
  • STATS_TEXTANALYSIS and PLS Extension need update.
  • In platforms other than Windows, OMS export to PDF, Excel, and Word fails.
  • Inconsistencies in translations are present in a few sections of the UI.

Workaround for issue with Locale settings when you connect to linux server

The issue is seen if you use linux servers with RHEL version 8.0 and above. Starting with RHEL 8, Red Hat delivers locales through language-specific packages. Therefore, administrators must explicitly install or generate any non-default locales.
