Comments

  • Updates have been made to the following seven SMAPI APIs
    to support the EQDIO enhancements:

    Network_IP_Interface_Create -
The Network_IP_Interface_Create API supports a new input
keyword/value pair of BUFFERS=. The pair specifies the
initial number of buffers and maximum number of buffers to be
      used for EQDIO communication.

    Network_IP_Interface_Query -
      The interface_configuration_structure in the
      interface_configuration_array array in response 2 contains a
new response key/value pair for EQDIO interfaces:
BUFFERS=value. In addition, the TYPE value for an EQDIO
      device is "EQDIO_ETHERNET".

    Virtual_Network_Adapter_Query_Extended -
Two additional key/value pairs are added to the
        virtual_network_adapter_data array in the response
        following the extended_port_status key/value pair.
The pairs contained information related to guest
transmission priority level and NIC distribution
        on/off state.

    Virtual_Network_OSA_Query -
The response output of the query is enhanced with new
      response data:
      * OSA_TYPE field will receive a new device type of "OSH".
      * TRACE_SIZE field will be added to the end of the
OSA_INFO_STRUCTURE. The field specifies the number of
pages to be allocated for an internal trace table to track
trace events pertaining to EQDIO (OSH type) on this OSA
device. Non-OSH type OSA devices will have a value of 0.

    Virtual_Network_Vswitch_Create_Extended -
The following operands are new for the API:
      * The LOG operand is new.
      * The existing queue_memory_limit operand value has been
increased and can now be specified as a range. This value
is used for the QUEUESTORAGE value in the DEFINE VSWITCH
          command.

    Virtual_Network_Vswitch_Query_Extended -
Response 2 output has been enhanced with the following:
      * queue_memory_limit shows the current queue size while the
minimum value and maximum value are shown in other response
         fields.
      * In previous releases of Diagnose 26C, the CSIVQUEU field
was used to fill in the SMAPI queue_memory_limit response.
Previously, the limit did not change. Now the limit can be
a range and can change. The CSIVQUEU field has been
deprecated will always be 8. SMAPI will fill the
query_memory_limit response from a new CSIVQSCU field which
shows the current queue storage size.
      *  Sixteen new data fields.

    Virtual_Network_Vswitch_Set_Extended -
The following operands are new or changed in the API:
      * queue_memory_limit passes the value for the SET VSWITCH
QUEUESTORAGE value. This input operand is updated to
support the optional format of a range.
      * log is a new operand which passes the SET VSWITCH LOG
value. This new operand is added to the possible operands
         for the API.

The updated APIs are documented in z/VM 7.4.0 in Systems
Management Application Programming (SC24-6327-74) available at
