Abstract
When upgrading to IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation 24.0.1 IF002 prior to May 16th, 2025, you may notice that Process Portal or Workplace show an incomplete list of tasks or instances. This impacts Business Automation Workflow applications with exposed business data variables. NoSuchMethodError errors occur in the logs related to com.ibm.bpm.elasticsearch.client.BusinessData.
CP4BA 24.0.1 IFix002 has been replaced soon with a corrected version. If the CP4BA CSV version is 24.1.2 then you are on an affected version.

Problem Symptoms
After applying interim fix 24.0.1-IF002, if Business Automation Workflow is configured with full text search capability, or if the Business Automation Workflow instance is federated by Process Federation Server, users will see empty or incomplete lists of tasks and process instances when using; Process Portal, Workplace, or when calling the REST API directly.
Errors are seen in the server logs relating to exceptions occurring during indexing of business data definitions and FFDC incidents:

The error occurs when the environment contains a Process Application with exposed business data variables.
The cp4a-operator CSV version is 24.1.2. This command can be used to check this:

Resolution
- Customers who have not yet applied interim fix 24.0.1-IF002 can now proceed with the updated 24.0.1-IF002, which was refreshed on May 22nd, 2025. Please refer to the 24.0.1-IF002 readme for details.
- Customers who have already applied interim fix 24.0.1-IF002 (prior to May 16th, 2025) should reapply the refreshed 24.0.1-IF002 interim fix. Please follow the "Scenario 10" from the 24.0.1-IF002 readme for instructions to complete the update.
Note: The fixed version of IFix002 will show CSV version of 24.1.3.
