This release contains new features, enhancements, and quality improvements, as well as fixes to release 10.0.2 and 10.0.1.

Test Results

Definitions

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

There are no known regressions to report.

Change History

User experience for enhanced productivity

Enhanced editing with floating window

Full editing capabilities are now available with floating windows. To begin editing in a floating window, select a tab that you want to use for drawing and drag the tab anywhere outside of the window. You can also right-click the tab and select Float for the enhanced and in-place model modifications with the flexibility.

The toolbox is now in the left pane of the editing area, providing you with more space to draw and model in a modernized way. You can find the editing toolbar on the header of the editing area inside the floating window, making it easier to format and align the model elements.

The grid layout is enabled by default, so that you can design and align models effectively.

Tracking with progress bar

You can now track the running processes with the progress bars in Rhapsody. Flexibly configure and manage multiple status bars for the modifications that you do in the models and get updates of the running tasks.

Welcome page modernization

Use the new welcome page to quickly get started and learn more about Rhapsody.

Extending the digital thread continuity

Define and manage engineering data dependencies

You can define and manage dependencies of engineering data by using digital threads in Rhapsody, which helps you ensure traceability and data consistency across the engineering lifecycle.

Streamlined Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) linking

Quickly create OSLC links between architecture elements in Rhapsody.

  • Establish AllocatesTracks, and Realizes links.

  • Add OSLC links directly from the Feature dialog.

  • View linked elements in the table view or web view.

Cross-server linking: Seamless upstream traceability

Align upstream model elements across different servers, fostering better traceability and collaboration between system and software models.

Simplified linking

Drag the elements from a web-based Engineering Lifecycle Management application directly into the Rhapsody browser tree.

Simplified linking is extended to the embedded web browser within Rhapsody for quick navigation and linking.

Quick linking for embedded web browser

Establish quick links with global configuration awareness without manually traversing remote artifacts.

You can create quick links between Requirements, Work Items, Test Cases, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) with OSLC support.

Enhanced project management and user control in Rhapsody for ReqXChanger

Improved data integrity
A new option is available to automatically save the Rhapsody project at the end of migration or synchronization, helping to ensure that no changes are lost.
Flexible logging control

You can now choose whether to log into the Rhapsody console for improving workflow efficiency.

ReqXChanger video documentation
New videos are available on IBM® documentation about using ReqXChanger for bidirectional traceability between IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS® and Rhapsody.

Product line engineering (PLE) integration support

Rhapsody supports new API for seamless interoperability.

Icon overlay on the root application notifies you when PLE is connected, similar to the Rhapsody Model Manager decorator.

Performance enhancement: Faster model loading

The significant improvements in the model load performance help to enable 12% to 17% faster loading time, reaching up to 20% improvement in some cases.

Smart loading of models

With the smart loading of models, which is an enhancement to Load On Demand mode, you can enable the models to load automatically in the background while there is no interaction with Rhapsody IDE. If Rhapsody is inactive for the specified duration (in seconds), the models start to load in the background until you interact with Rhapsody again.

Test Reutilization in Rhapsody

Test Reutilization is new feature in Rhapsody, designed to maximize efficiency and consistency in model validation and verification. You can reuse test cases, test scripts, and validation scenarios across multiple projects or product versions. Test Reutilization significantly reduces redundancy and enhances test quality.

Introducing the Industry package add-on

Industry package add-on is an extension that enhances engineering modeling capabilities by integrating advanced features that are tailored for industry-specific needs.

The industry add-ons are specialized tools for domain-specific engineering that support specific model transformations and certification requirements and provide tailored capabilities for the following industries:
  • Automotive
  • Aerospace and Defense
  • Medical
  • Electronics
  • Transportation

Expanded C++ language support

The Industry Package now includes support for C++ 11, 14, 17, and 20, providing modernized coding capabilities and improving software development efficiency.

Model-to-model transformations: Enhancing engineering workflows

Seamlessly transform SysML models to UML by using customizable mapping rules, with extensibility to domain-specific languages such as UAF, AUTOSAR, or so on.

PowerPack: Advanced automation for efficient modeling

PowerPack is a suite of automation tools designed to enhance model-building efficiency.

  • Diagram tools: Add customizable information boxes and legends to diagrams, populate diagrams from queries, insert states into transitions, and add interfaces to diagrams with ports.
  • Editing tools: Build or edit complex context patterns for tables or queries in an intuitive editor, delete events, types, and stereotypes along with all their references in a single click, and create hyperlinks with drag-and-drop.
  • Reporting tools: Generate dynamic reports such as N2 views for interfaces, overridden property reports, ini file reports, and a complete web-based version of the model or any part of it.
Real-time eXecution Framework (RXF™) framework for C and C++

The embedded UML RXF is new addition that acts as a bridge between UML models and target platforms, enabling efficient code generation and execution even for resource-constrained embedded systems.

Helpful Hints For Obtaining Technical Assistance:

Before you contact IBM Software Support, gather the background information that you need to describe the problem. When you describe a problem to an IBM software support specialist, be as specific as possible, and include all relevant background information so that the specialist can help you solve the problem efficiently. To save time, know the answers to these questions:

  • What software versions were you running when the problem occurred?
  • Do you have logs, traces, or messages that are related to the problem?
  • Can you reproduce the problem? If so, what steps do you take to reproduce it?
  • Is there a workaround for the problem? If so, be prepared to describe the workaround.
