Modifying Local Connection for Existing Jobs in CPD
This document provides a detailed guide for creating a Local Connection for SAP Connectors—including SAP OData, SAP Bulk, SAP Delta, SAP BAPI and SAP IDoc—in Cloud Pak for Data (CPD). A local connection enables users to securely establish a direct link between the CPD environment and an SAP system, facilitating seamless data extraction and integration without relying on shared or external connections.
The guide covers the necessary prerequisites, connection setup steps, SAP system details configuration, connection validation, and saving the connection for future use. This documentation ensures that users can confidently configure and manage SAP connections within their CPD environment, following recommended best practices.
Steps to create Local Connection for SAP Connectors in CPD (Cloud Pak for Data)
In Cloud Pak for Data (CPD), there are two approaches to create a local connection for SAP Connectors: one tailored for new jobs, allowing seamless setup during job creation, and another designed for existing jobs, enabling users to configure local connections without redesigning previously developed jobs.
Note:
The connection properties required may vary depending on the specific SAP Connector being used. These connections properties should align with the standard connection properties for different SAP connectors.
Creating Local Connection for SAP Connectors
To create and configure local connection for SAP connectors in CPD, follow these steps.
Step 1: Login to CPD
Step 2: Click on New Asset

Step 3: Click on transform and integrate data

Step 4: Provide job name and click on create

Step 5: Search for any SAP Connector in the palette. For example, you can search for SAP Bulk Extract

Step 6: Search for Sequentail File in the palette to locate and use the corresponding stage in your job design.
Step 7: Create a link between SAP Bulk Extract Connector and sequentail file.

Step 8: Double-click on the SAP Connector stage to open its properties. Navigate to the Connection tab and provide the required connection details based on the specific SAP connector being used. These connections properties should align with the standard connection properties for different SAP connectors. e.g. here we will be using SAP Bulk Extract Connection Properties to connect with the SAP system.

Step 9: To establish the connection, users are required to provide connection details such as Application Server, JAR URIs, System Number, SAP Router, SAP Username, SAP Password, Client Number, and Language. These parameters align with the standard connection properties used in SAP systems.

Step 10: Click on Test Connection to verify the connection. If the connection is successful, a pop-up will appear stating that the test was successful, confirming that the local connection has been properly created for the selected SAP Connector.

Note: Created local connections can be used further for design time and runtime execution of the created job/flow.
Modifying Local Connection for Existing Jobs in CPD
Step 1: Login to CPD
Step 2: Search for an existing job within the asset. Click and open it.

Step 3: Double-click on the SAP Connector stage to open its properties.

Step 4: Click on view connection dropdown, select Flow Connection.

Step 5: Navigate to the Connection details and provide the required connection details based on the specific SAP Connector.

Note: Further follow the steps mentioned in section Creating Local Connection for SAP Connectors from Steps 8-10.
