New release of IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS

We are happy to announce a new release of IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS which is available from IBM Fix Central.

You can find details on all changes and solutions in the Release Notes.

PLEASE NOTE: For those customers who have not yet upgraded to version 12.7.0 or higher, the special upgrade instructions for version 12.7.0 apply when upgrading to version 1.1.1.7.

This release may contain updates and capabilities that your site does not currently have licensed. If you are interested in adding additional functionality as described below, please contact your account manager.

Below are the most important changes that are included in IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 1.1.1.7:

1. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 1.1.1.7 includes updates to the field descriptions and report titles to provide a better user experience.
   1. "Systems, Paging, WLM" viewpoint is now renamed to "Systems".
   2. The text describing the IMS subsystem ID is renamed to "IMS ID" between both sources of IMS transaction data.
   3. Added descriptions for the MQ log I/O (QJST*) fields from the SMF 115 records.
2. The Microsoft PowerPoint template that is used when exporting IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS reports to PowerPoint has been updated to use an IBM style.
3. The configuration table generated from CF and XCF > XCF > Configuration > XCF CF Str presents both "Coupling Facility Structure Name" and "Coupling Facility Name".
   Previously, drill downs from this table only set a constraint on "Coupling Facility Structure Name" (reporting on that structure across all coupling facilities).
   This report is enhanced to have drill downs set constraints on both the "Coupling Facility Structure Name" and "Coupling Facility Name" that appear in that row of the table.
4. When the IBM z13 processor was introduced, in addition to IBM’s published calculations from the SMF 113 hardware counters, IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS provided enhanced cache-related metrics involving proprietary calculations. Processor cache architecture has changed on subsequent processor models, and with that, the definitions of some of the counters have also changed. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS continues to document all changes in the SMF 113 counter definitions and support all IBM’s published calculations. As some of those proprietary calculations for the IBM z13 were not always valid for subsequent models, the tables with those calculations (Cache Miss, Cache Thrput, Cache Age, LPAR Cache, CP-zIIP Cache, and Off Drawer) have been removed from the Systems > Processor Hardware > Analysis z14 and z15 and Systems > Processor Hardware > Analysis z16 report sets.
