ZWSTECHNOTE : DB2 historical reporting issues with z/OS 3.1, JAVA V17, DB2 UTS (universal table space), zWS 10.2

Question & Answer

Question

Are there considerations of installing /using/ upgrading the DB2 historical database function ( EQQRXARC ) for any of the
following:
z/OS 3.1
JAVA V17
DB2 UTS
z Workload Scheduler 10.2

Answer

Yes, here is what is  known at this time, more information will be added to this technote as it becomes available:
(A) z/OS 3.1  - If using zWS 10.1 or 9.5,  historical reporting requires JAVA V8.  If migrating to z/OS 3.1 and JAVA V8 is no longer available
you may need to copy JAVA V8 from your earlier z/OS release to z/OS 3.1 so you can continue to use historical reporting
(B) JAVA V17 - JAVA V17 will be supported by zWS 10.2 and higher
(C) DB2 UTS - conversion of the historical reporting database from its current definition of 2 tables in the same tablespace, to 2 tables in
two different tablespaces ( UTS or Universal Table Space complaincy) is possible, either through defining a new historical
database or migrating the tables from a non-UTS compliant database
(D) z Workload Scheduler 10.2 - will allow the use of JAVA V17 and provide a method for having a UTS compliant database
