Problem conclusion
This problem was fixed. Affected platforms: AIX, Linux, and Windows. ANR8889E Volume ABCDEF in drive DRIVExxx in library LIBRARYyyy does not have a standard IBM label. Explanation The volume label is in ASCII format, but the server can read only EBCDIC format. Also if the label blocks are corrupted, the server cannot read the volume label. SystemAction The server rejects the volume. UserResponse To use the specified volume with the server, you must overwrite the label in EBCDIC format. To overwrite the label, complete one of the following steps: - For a non-WORM tape volume, issue the LABEL LIBVOLUME command. Alternatively, issue the DEFINE LIBRARY command for the tape volume and specify AUTOLABEL=OVERWRITE. - For a WORM tape volume, issue the LABEL LIBVOLUME command. Restriction: A WORM tape volume can be relabeled only if it is a scratch volume. If the server still fails to read the label after you relabel the volume, check and update the HBA firmware and the tape drive firmware. You can also report the issue to your hardware vendor.
