IBM Storage Protect for Cloud
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud
- In IBM Storage Protect for Cloud, the left navigation pane includes the following updates:
- The User activity report has been renamed to System auditor and moved from Administration to the System section.
- Help has been renamed to Help & Resources.
- Users no longer need to configure the Impersonation name when consenting to a custom Azure app in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud > Management > App management. For services which requires the impersonation name information, customers can configure the field in the respective service environment.
- Organization using IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 can now protect comments added on Planner tasks by configuring an app profile for the delegated app and selecting the Restore Planner task comments function when consenting to the app profile.
- If your Microsoft tenant uses IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Azure VMs, Storage, and Entra ID, and has app profiles of the following types, you can now re-authorize them to add the Microsoft Graph API permissions.

- Organizations with Vault protection enabled in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace must configure a custom Google app including the following permission scopes:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/ediscovery
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/devstorage.read_only
- Organizations with Vault protection enabled in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace can now configure a scan profile to scan the Vault matter objects.
- In Auto discovery > Scan profiles, when configuring an advanced mode scan profile to scan Power BI objects, with the Specified objects in one container rule selected for containers, you can now set the following conditions for the Workspace admin and Workspace admin email address criteria:
- Contains
- Does not contain
- Matches
- Does not match
- Is empty
- Auto discovery now supports scanning Viva Engage communities with the Community.ReadWrite.All Microsoft Graph API permission added on a service app or a custom app.
- When using IBM's APIs to update customers' subscriptions for IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace, the EnableVaultProtection value can be set to true or false to manage Vault protection settings.
- If a customer's subscription has multi-geo enabled, it cannot be disabled when updating the subscription using IBM APIs.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce
- The following updates have been made to the left navigation pane in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce:
- The Reporting section now includes API usage and Unusual activities analysis (renamed from Salesforce unusual activities analysis).
- The Activity section now includes Job monitor, Monitor alerts, and Data export.
- The System section now includes Settings, System auditor, Subscription (renamed from Subscription consumption), and Help & Resources (renamed from Help).
- Account management has been renamed to User management.
- You can now stop and rerun the archive and simulation jobs on the Job monitor page. Note that only failed, finished with an exception, skipped, and stopped jobs can be rerun.
- IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce now supports Bulk API for archive, restore, and sandbox seeding. Administrators can enable the Bulk API and define its scope in Settings > Advanced > Bulk API usage. Note that the Bulk API is not supported when restoring archived data.
- On the Backup page, IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce now provides a warning message for organizations with insufficient permissions for backup.
- You can now select a date range within one year when exporting the audit records on the System auditor page.
- The Data size column is now available on the Backup > Organization details page and the Job monitor > Job details page to calculate the actual data size per object, offering better insights into your backup storage usage.
- For the Back up now function, IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Salesforce now supports running on-demand backups for specific objects after a full backup.
- New columns for detailed per-object API usage are now available on the Backup > Organization details page and the Job monitor > Job details page to provide better visibility into API consumption.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Azure and Storage
General Updates
- New navigation updates are being rolled out, delivering a more intuitive, consistent, and efficient user experience. In IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Azure, the left navigation pane has the following updates:
- The Reporting section has been added to include Backup analysis.
- Subscription consumption and System auditor have been moved to the System section, and Subscription consumption has been renamed to Subscription.
- Account management has been renamed to User management, and Help has been renamed to Help & Resources.
- The notification profile has been enhanced, allowing users to specify backup scopes to which the notification profile will be applied.
- A tooltip has been added to the Storage profile page and the Create storage profile panel, recommending that you configure the storage firewall to allow only IBM Storage Protect for Cloud to access your storage.
- When downloading exported data, users can now retrieve the password for the exported data in the Download content panel.
- The Restore job summary section on the Homepage has been improved. You can now use the date range drop-down list and service drop-down list to find the job summary data you need.
What's New in Virtual Machine
- The Check destination virtual machine step has been introduced when restoring files or folders in Azure VMs. This step verifies the necessary conditions before allowing the restoration job to proceed.
What's New in Azure DevOps
- The Azure DevOps service now supports backing up and restoring work items in Azure boards.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Dynamics 365
- General improvements for enhanced functionality.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace

IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace now supports backing up and exporting Google Vault data (Gmail, Drive, and shared drives). If your organization wants to enable the Vault protection add-on in the Google Workspace module, contact your IBM representative to enable this feature in your tenant’s subscription to IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace

Administrators can now add multiple users into a restore queue in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace, allowing bulk restores for the users’ Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and Contacts backup data. Users can be selected in Calendar mode or imported via CSV file upload.

IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Google Workspace now supports selecting Chat backup data via the Calendar mode.

The Last Modified By column has been added to the list of files with unusual activities, showing the email addresses of users who last added or modified the files.

In Settings > General > Backup settings, you can now configure the Advanced labels exclusion setting to exclude more labels from the Gmail backup scope, and configure the Advanced folders exclusion setting to exclude more folders from the Drive or Shared drives backup scope.

Google Workspace Chat is now fully supported.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365
- In IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365, the left navigation pane has been updated with the following changes:
- Account management has been renamed to User management.
- Microsoft 365 unusual activities analysis has been renamed to Unusual activities analysis.
- Help has been renamed to Help & Resources.
- To restore comments added to Planner tasks, you must configure an app profile for the delegated app in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud and select the Restore Planner task comments function when consenting to the app profile.
- The unusual activity email notification is now split into two separate emails: one for unusual activities and another for potential ransomware attacks. You can create separate notification profiles to address different scenarios.
- For errors with error codes, you can now skip specific errors by error codes to prevent them from affecting the job status in Settings > Backup.
- IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365 now supports configuring a data retention period of less than one year at the container level.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Recovery Portal
- IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Recovery Portal now supports loading all folders in Tree mode and can display up to 2000 search results.
New features and Improvements in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Partner Portal
- Centralized app management allows you to create app profiles for customers directly in IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Partners. This simplifies the setup process for IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365.
- Impersonation name is no longer needed when you create a custom app profile for the Microsoft 365 tenant.
