Removing Expansion-Card Riser 1

To remove the first expansion-card riser, follow these steps:

  1. Power down the system and all connected peripherals, then disconnect from the power source.
  2. Access the system's interior. Refer to the relevant section on opening the system for detailed instructions.
  3. Disconnect all cables attached to the expansion cards.
  4. Remove all expansion cards from the riser. Consult the guide on removing expansion cards for step-by-step instructions.
  5. Release the riser by pressing the tab at its bottom, then lift it off the mounting pins and out of the system. Visual guidance can be found in the relevant figure (e.g., Figure 3-27).

Replacing Expansion-Card Riser 1

To reinstall the first expansion-card riser:

  1. Align the riser with the system board's mounting pin, then lower it until the board connector is securely seated.

  3. Reconnect all expansion-card cables.

Removing Expansion-Card Riser 2

To remove the second expansion-card riser:

Replacing Expansion-Card Riser 2

To reinstall the second expansion-card riser:

  1. Align the guides on the riser with the system board's mounting pins, then lower it into place until the latches engage.

  3. Reconnect all expansion-card cables.
  4. Close the system.
  5. Restore power to the system and peripherals.

Important Considerations

  • The system will not function with a riser board removed.
