IJ54260: 'SNAP' COMMAND HANGS DURING LVM DATA COLLECTION IF VG IS LOCKED.APPLIES TO AIX 7300-02

 

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a VG is locked due to some running, maybe hanging
LVM command
a 'snap -e' (or 'snap -a', or any 'snap' command using
the "-L" flag) will hang.

Local fix

  • Do not run 'snap -L' (or any other flag which includes
the "-L" flag, like "-a" or "-e")
when collecting a 'snap'.

Problem summary

  • 'snap' command hangs during LVM data collection if VG is
locked.

Problem conclusion

  • The snap code now uses the `-L` flag to skip over
locked VGs during LVM data collection,
preventing the command from hanging in such cases.
