APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the filesetÆs maxInodes equals to AllocInodes,  auto
    inode expansion
     is not triggered even if the fileset is running out of
    free inodes.  Customer has to expand the inode space
    manually via command mmchfileset.
    
    Reported in: 5.1.9

Problem summary

  • Automatic inode expansion for an inode space can get disabled.

  • This problem is fixed in 5.1.9.9

    Benefits of the solution:
    With the fix, automatic inode expansion would continue to occur
    as expected
    
    Work Around:
    perform manual inode-space expansion.
    
    Problem trigger:
    creating many files which causes allocated inodes in an inode
    space to become equal to max inodes.
    
    Symptom:
    file creations can fail.
    
    Platforms affected:
    ALL Operating System environments
    
    Functional Area affected:
    File creation/Inode allocation.
