Error description

  • After PH48747, the web server is experiencing difficulties in
starting due to a corrupted heap storage file, which occurs
when the configuration parser encounters an error. The
following error message is logged in the system:

CEE0802C Heap storage control information was damaged.
    From compile unit
    AQMVSOE:/u/bbuild8/blddir/WAS90.ZNATV/ZNATV/ws/code

This problem was first discovered on z/OS, but it also affects other operating systems.
Other operating systems may also encounter web server startup failures but without displaying the "Heap storage control information was damaged" error seen in z/OS.

Local fix

  • Rename the merged plugin-cfg.xml file to something like
plugin-cfg-x.xml, or move the merged plugin file to a different
    directory.

A web server startup failure caused by a corrupted heap storage.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been updated to eliminate the problematic variable,
ensuring that the startup process proceeds without causing
corruption to the heap storage file.

The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix packs
    8.5.5.28 and 9.0.5.24.
