Removing a Power Supply
WARNING: If you're dealing with a power supply mismatch error, only substitute the power supply with the blinking indicator. Exchanging the other power supply to create a matched pair could lead to an error condition and an unanticipated system shutdown. To transition from a High Output configuration to an Energy Smart configuration or vice versa, you must power down the system.
NOTE: You might need to unlatch and lift the optional cable management arm if it obstructs the power supply removal. For details about the cable management arm, refer to the system's rack documentation.
- Disconnect the power cable from both the power source and the power supply you intend to remove, and remove the cables from the Velcro strap.
- Press the lever release latch and slide the power supply out of the chassis.

Replacing a Power Supply
- On a system equipped with redundant power supplies, ensure that both power supplies are of the same type and have the same maximum output power. The maximum output power (in watts) is indicated on the power supply label.
- Slide the new power supply into the chassis until it's fully seated and the release latch snaps into place.
- If you unlatched the cable management arm in step 2 of the previous procedure, relatch it. For information about the cable management arm, refer to the system's rack documentation.
- Connect the power cable to the power supply and plug the cable into a power outlet.
CAUTION: When connecting the power cable, ensure it's secured with the Velcro strap.
NOTE: When installing, hot-swapping, or hot-adding a new power supply, allow a few seconds for the system to recognize the power supply and determine its status. The power-supply status indicator will turn green to indicate that the power supply is functioning correctly.
