APAR status

Error description

  • The IBM Storage Protect Plus Maintenance job can see long delays
    
    in cloud/archive snapshot expiration processing.
    Each warning message due to a time out processing a query to the
    
    cloud or archive end point will appear in the job log after
    trying up to 15 minutes :
    
    WARN,..,CTGGA1770,Deleting storage snapshot for policy <SLAName>
    
                     Fail to get the volume with volume id
                     <Cloud or Archive Volume ID>
                     Failed to get storage volume from cloud
                     Archive server.
                     I/O error on GET request for "https://
                     <vSnapHostAddress>:8900/api/partner/
                     <ArchivePartnerID>/volume": Read timed out;
                     nested exception is java.net.
                     SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out.
    
    If communications with the cloud/archive endpoint experiences
    I/O errors and time out for many cloud/archive snapshots to
    expire, the overall Maintenance job duration can significantly
    increase with about the formula <number of archive/cloud
    snapshots to expire> x 15 minutes.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem occurs when a Backup Snapshot is not found on the
    vSnap Server and a subsequent call is made to fetch the snapshot
    from Cloud. A condition is added for the Maintenance Job to
    check for the Snapshot on the vSnap Server database only. The
    issue is fixed in SPP version 10.1.17.2
