APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In the LANG=Ja_JP environment, the
    /usr/lib/ras/dumpcheck command returns
    the following error.
      (No error occurs in LANG=C environment)
      When this issue occurs, the error log
    does not record "DMPCHK_TOOSMALL" even if the
    dump device size is small.
    
      # LANG=Ja_JP /usr/lib/ras/dumpcheck
      /usr/lib/ras/dumpcheck[168]: [: argument expected
      /usr/lib/ras/dumpcheck[173]:
    let: dumpdd_size =  *  / 1024: arithmetic syntax error
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When running the /usr/lib/ras/dumpcheck command in a non- C
    locale, such as Ja_JP. the command fails with an arithmetic
    syntax error.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Modified dumpcheck script to ensure proper locale handling,
    preventing failures in non-C locales.
