Navigation behaviour for Rhapsody embedded webview

General Page

From the release of Rhapsody 10.0.2, all the navigation between Engineering Lifecycle Management or Rhapsody Model Manager artifacts can be done internally with the help of Rhapsody internal browser.

In IBM Engineering Rhapsody 10.0.2, there are three menu options available for navigation behaviour.

In the View menu, select Browser Display Options > Open RMM/ELM Artifact, and you can see the following options to select:

  • Default Internal Browser (selected by default)
  • New Internal Browser
  • External Browser

To get older behaviour of navigating to external browser, select Browser Display Options > Open RMM/ELM Artifact > External Browser.

Default Internal Browser

When the option is selected, you can navigate in single window of browser.

  • If no default internal browser is opened, a new default internal browser is opened.
  • If a default internal browser is opened, then you can navigate in the same window.
  • If a default internal browser is opened and is in Auto-Hide mode (hidden), then new default internal browser is opened.
You can press Ctrl+Click during navigation to open in New Internal Browser mode.

New Internal Browser

When the option is selected, you can navigate in New Tab of internal browser.

  • If no internal browser is opened, a new internal browser is opened.
  • If internal browser is opened, then you can navigate in the same window with new tab.
  • If internal browser is opened and is in Auto-Hide mode (hidden), then new internal browser is opened.

The default internal browser and the internal browser have different behaviour. Use the Default Internal Browser option if you want to navigate on the same window. Use the New Internal Browser option if you want multiple tabs for different artifacts.

If you have multiple internal browser opened, then the internal browser that is created first is considered for adding a tab. If the internal browser that is created first is in Auto-Hide mode, then the internal browser that is created second is considered and so on.

The hidden (Auto-Hide) windows are considered as the closed windows, and the new tabs are not added to the hidden windows.

External Browser

When the option is selected, you can navigate in Windows browsers, that is, Chrome, Edge or so on.

The external browser is the old behaviour of navigation in Rhapsody.
