webMethods Knowlegebase : How-to: Reverting back the default Password for MWS and IS (1806628)

Troubleshooting

Problem

We have faced some issue for login in IS and MWS. we have tried to revert back the Administrator Password for IS as below steps, but still facing an issue to login by Administrator.

Steps to follow:

-Stop IS

-Check the “Administrator” User property (“enabled” flag specifically) in /apps/webmethodsXXX/IntegrationServer/instances/default/config/users.cnf

<record name="Administrator" id="5299" javaclass="com.wm.app.b2b.server.User">

<value name="name" id="5300">Administrator</value>

<object idref="4" name="pass"/>

<value name="passHash" id="5301">{sha-256_v2}2xRB2nyFjf8AVnPaNlp9CI/ElXTJATqsfASfDXkJ1pcD/AnWPAjGUTAxMDAw</value>

<record name="members" id="5302" javaclass="com.wm.util.Values">

<value name="Replicators" id="5303">Replicators</value>

<object idref="27" name="Administrators"/>

<object idref="8" name="Everybody"/>

</record>

<object idref="10" name="enabled"/>

<object idref="10" name="allowDigestAuth"/>

<value name="passwordUpdatedOn" id="5304">2019-07-29 03:17:00 EDT</value>

<array name="passwordHistory" type="record" depth="1" id="5305">

</array>

</record>

-Get the details of 1st user record entry (this could be any user, can be “Administrator” as well) of /apps/webmethodsXXX/IntegrationServer/instances/default/config/users.cnf.

All id ref. used within xml are set in 1st record of xml.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<Values version="2.0">

<record name="users" id="1" javaclass="com.wm.util.Values">

<record name="FMSClient15162" id="2" javaclass="com.wm.app.b2b.server.User">

<value name="name" id="3">FMSClient15162</value>

<value name="pass" id="4">(secret)</value>

<value name="passHash" id="5">{sha1}rjlXq2UK5DpfLk96uGvxBW+hggA=</value>

<record name="members" id="6" javaclass="com.wm.util.Values">

<value name="TNPartners" id="7">TNPartners</value>

<value name="Everybody" id="8">Everybody</value>

</record>

<value name="enabled" id="9">true</value>

<value name="allowDigestAuth" id="10">false</value>

<value name="passwordUpdatedOn" id="11">2019-07-28 08:09:51 EDT</value>

<array name="passwordHistory" type="record" depth="1" id="12">

</array>

</record>

-1st user record confirms id ref. – value mapping. This id ref. is used within xml to map required value to different attributes.

-To enable “Administrator” account, update record as below

<record name="Administrator" id="5299" javaclass="com.wm.app.b2b.server.User">

<value name="name" id="5300">Administrator</value>

<object idref="4" name="pass"/>

<value name="passHash" id="5301">{sha-256_v2}2xRB2nyFjf8AVnPaNlp9CI/ElXTJATqsfASfDXkJ1pcD/AnWPAjGUTAxMDAw</value>

<record name="members" id="5302" javaclass="com.wm.util.Values">

<value name="Replicators" id="5303">Replicators</value>

<object idref="27" name="Administrators"/>

<object idref="8" name="Everybody"/>

</record>

<object idref="9" name="enabled"/>

<object idref="10" name="allowDigestAuth"/>

<value name="passwordUpdatedOn" id="5304">2019-07-29 03:17:00 EDT</value>

<array name="passwordHistory" type="record" depth="1" id="5305">

</array>

</record>

-Start the IS

For MWS we have tried the below steps, administrator account is working now but the resting for sysadmin does not work. so each time which i reset the pass for it from MWS and restart the MWS. I cannot login with sysadmin

(1) Create a text file called resetAdminPwd.xml (the name doesn’t matter, just the suffix) and add the xml below to the file saving it off to the deploy folder(...\MWS\server\server-name\deploy). Bounce MWS:

<CONFIG>

<context alias="fabric.admin.user">

<property name="password">manage</property>

</context>

</CONFIG>

***don't forget to remove this file from deploy after the password has been reset.
