Troubleshooting
Problem
When the length of the data to be encrypted is shorter than a mutliple of the block length (N x 128 bit) of the symmetric block cipher, the incomplete block of data needs to be filled with a Padding procdure.
Specifications:
• ISO-Padding [ISO/IEC 7816-4]
• CMS-Padding [IETF-RFC 5652]
• ESP-Padding [IETF-RFC 4303]
• CBC-CS1, CBC-CS2, CBC-CS3 Ciphertext stealing [NIST-SP 800-38 A - Addendum]
