webMethods Knowlegebase : Diagnosing High CPU Usage on Integration Server (1716162)

Troubleshooting

Problem

There may be occasions where the Integration Server -- or any Java application for that matter -- may be consuming an abnormally large amount of CPU cycles.

This may starve-out other processes and/or affect overall performance of the system.

Symptoms are generally poor performance and/or unresponsiveness.

Generally, the main causes of this behavior are frequent garbage collection by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) or "tight" loop conditions within the Java code.
