Error description

  • Using the 'IMSID-based suffix' function can cause an IMS CTL
abend S0C4 because of storage overlay when the following
    conditions are all met.
    1. 'IMSID-BASED SUFFIX' option is selected for ETOS 'LTERM/USER
    NAMING OPTIONS'
    2. ETOS 'SIGNOFF CLEANUP' function is enabled (it is disabled by
    default)
    3. IMS signon was attempted after using up all registered
    IMSID-based suffixes

This problem does not happen when either 'IMSID-based suffix' or
'Signoff cleanup' function is not used.

    ****************************************************************
Using the "IMSID-based suffix" function can cause an abend S0C4
in IMS CTL region because of storage overlay when the following
    conditions are all met.
    1. "IMSID-based suffix" option is selected for "LTERM/USER
NAMING OPTIONS" of IMS ETO Support
    2. "SIGNOFF CLEANUP" function is enabled (it is disabled by defa
       ult) on IMS ETO Support
    3. IMS signon was attempted after using up all registered
       IMSID-based suffixes

This is due to a logic error in the signon exit routine provided
    by IMS ETO Support.
The signon exit called a routine IZTCLNAF for "SIGNOFF CLEANUP"
processing with invalid parameters when a signon failed due to
being used up of all IMSID-based suffixes.

In the conclusion, the IZTCLNAF turned on the flag bit beyond
the page managed by IMS ETO Support (whose eyecatcher is
"IZTUTBL"), which can cause an abend S0C4 or an unpredictable
    behavior.

Problem conclusion

  • IZTSGNXF, the ETOS-provided IMS signon exit routine for IMS V15,
has been changed to work properly in the condition that
"IMSID-based suffix" and "Signoff cleanup" functions are both
    enabled
