webMethods Knowlegebase : How to purge the Trading Networks (TN) database ACTIVITYLOG (1799211)

Troubleshooting

Problem

Need to purge some data from the database.

Is there a standard purge process?

The activity log is 500g.

Is it possible to stop the application and simply truncate/drop that table?

The application is not currently being used, so there is no concern with retaining this data unless it will impact the application.

Can see that you can delete the ACTIVITYLOG using ra_tn_drop_ddl_partition_tables.sql.

See documentation 'webMethods Trading Networks Administrator’s Guide Version 9.12' on page 240 this is outlined.

Additionally, you can set this up for archive/delete, currently do not have that setup, perhaps that is why not see the drop/create for the ACTIVITYLOG?

If reading the documentation correctly, the script mentioned above will drop a number of tables.

Have a customer that is simply trying to free up space in the database and this is the largest table they have in their database.

Reviewing the script, it also does not recreate the dropped tables.

Is it possible to use the script above or the Software AG Database Component Configurator (DCC) utility as do not see the ACTIVITYLOG as a component etc.

Perhaps have to set this up first via archive/delete?

Is it safe to drop that one table and recreate it, and if so, how?
