Linking a map feature to the current record

Before you begin

You can configure the options to link and unlink features if the Link or Unlink sigoptions are not already defined in the map manager. You can configure these options if you have access to the sigoption definitions and can define the Link and Unlink sigoption for the map manager.

Procedure

1. Create a new sigoption.

     a. Open the Application Designer application.

     b. Create a new sigoption called LINKANDUNLINKFEATUREFROMLAYER. One sigoption is created to both link and unlink records.

2. Authorize the current user to use the new sigoption.

     a. Open the Security Groups application, select a group that includes the current user, and then open the Applications tab.

     b. Select the Map Manager application.

     c. Locate the sigoption you created and then select Grant Access?

     d. Save the record.

3. Assign the sigoption to a map manager record.

     a. Open the Map Manager application and select a map manager.

     b. Open a map service layer, select a service layer, and then assign a value to Link Sigoption.

     c. On the Select Value window, select the LINKANDUNLINKFEATUREFROMLAYER sigoption.

    d. Save the record.

4. Link a map feature to a record.

     a. Open the Assets application, select an asset, and then open the Map tab.

     b. Click the Identify tool and then select a feature that is associated with the layer you configured with the new sigoption.

     c. On the identify results window, click the link icon to link the feature to the current asset record. If the feature is already linked to another  record you can choose to replace existing link with a link to the current record. You can unlink any linked feature on the map in the same way by clicking the unlink icon. Alternatively, you can unlink a record from a map feature by selecting the record from the record list view and then selecting Unlink GIS Feature from the Common Actions menu. You do not need to open the record and access the Map tab using this method.
