webMethods Knowlegebase : Virtual folder for SFTP server on internet via DMZ (1770605)

Troubleshooting

Problem

Customer needs to configure Virtual Folder for a SFTP server on internet. They're exploring options to utilize Active Transfer Gateway for this.

Looking at Active Transfer documentation, it is possible to configure inbound connections (from internet clients) like SFTP Client (on internet) -> Active Transfer Gateway <- Active Transfer Server.

Customer is looking for an option of connecting to SFTP Server (on internet) through Active Transfer Gateway server, like Active Transfer Server -> Active Transfer Gateway -> SFTP Server (on internet). This would avoid opening both inner firewall and outer firewall and connect to internet.

They already have a customer solution to run FTP commands remotely (pub.remote:invoke service) through DMZ servers and connect to FTP servers on internet. Does wM MFT support any such feature?

Can this be done through proxy server? This should be normal requirement but there seems not to be guidelines for this in documentation.
