1. Barcodes are supported.

2. Auto cleaning is supported. One or more slots can be reserved to meet software licensing requirements or for use as a cleaning slot. If one slot is reserved, slot #25 becomes Reserved Slot #1. If 2 slots are reserved, slot #24 becomes Reserved Slot #1 and slot #25 becomes Reserved Slot #2. Additional reserved slots continue in the rear-to-front pattern.

3. Multi-unit scalability support
  • MSL 5026 and MSL 5030 - up to 8 modules
  • MSL 5052 and MSL 5060 - up to 4 modules - 16 drives and 208 slots.

4. ELEMent=AUTODetect in the DEFINE/UPDATE DRIVE command is supported.

Known Problems
  • APAR IC43118 ANR8972E UPDATE PATH: UNABLE TO FIND THE ELEMENT NUMBER FOR DRIVE DRIVE_MT0 IN LIBRARY LIB_MSL5026
    Affects only Compaq MSL 5000 Series with product ID "LXB".
    Fixed in interim fixes version 5.2.4.1 and 5.3.0.1.


Library and drive may require different minimum Tivoli Storage Manager levels. Therefore, ensure that both library and drive hardware are supported. See "Supported Devices for AIX, HP-UX, Solaris and Windows" or "Supported Devices for Linux" for minimum supported version levels and platforms for these devices.
