Data Collector fails on startup with error message : Unexpected end-of-input within/between Object entries

Troubleshooting


Problem

This error is caused when there is an issue or corruption in one of the telemetry files, stats.json, which is used by Data Collector.

Symptom

When attempting to start Data Collector it fails and the following message is found in the logs:

ERROR Main - Abnormal exit: com.streamsets.datacollector.metering.TelemetryException: com.fasterxml.jackson.datab
ind.JsonMappingException: Unexpected end-of-input within/between Object entries

Resolving The Problem

To resolve this issue:

  1. Find the location of the stats.json file. Typically, this is found in the $SDC_HOME/data directory.

  2. Move the stats.json file to a location outside of the Data Collector directory.

  3. Attempt to restart Data Collector.
