Problem

Running reports online as HTML generates blank empty report output with an error message "error, see logs".

Symptom

Issue only exists on IBM Cognos Analytics 12.0.1+ release environments, where content store upgraded from legacy Cognos releases, pre-Cognos Analytics 11.0.x versions.

Running upgraded legacy reports online as HTML within Report properties having "Run with full interactivity = false" generates blank empty report output with an error message "error, see logs".

All legacy reports run online having "Run with full interactivity = false" will experience the same behaviour with URL request ?perspectives=classicviewer. Attempt to run the legacy reports in the background with Run As via Batch Report service, report runs successfully as expected.

Any reports run online having "Run with full interactivity = true", do not present any issues with URL request ?perspectives=authoring

No errors reported within the <analytics>/logs/cogaudit.log and <analytics>/logs/cognosserver.log files.
