HMC session settings, might cause deploy, lpm, resize failure in PowerVC

Troubleshooting


Problem

LPM, Deploy, Resize, Volume attach, errors might appear due to greenlet and HMC 401 error
in var/log/nova/MT_SN.compute.log 

ERROR powervc_nova.compute.discovery_manager [-] Detected periodic tasks have stopped running.

ERROR powervc_nova.compute.discovery_manager [-] Greenthread 0 <greenlet.greenlet object at  suspended active started main>

INFO powervc_oslo.k2.k2operator [req- - - - -] logging on HMCFQDN

INFO powervc_oslo.k2.k2operator [req - - - -] result: 401 () for DELETE httpsk2://HMCFQDN:443/rest/api/web/Logon

This is due to the number of session, session idle timeout and the user used to connect the HMC under PowerVC time out value.

Resolving The Problem

We recommend:
To edit the setting in HMC (in both if this is a redundant pair)
HMC Management> HMC Settings >
Idle time out in minutes: 120
Maximum Web session per user: 200

Then edit the user setting for the one used to connect the HMC to PowerVC:
Go to users > select the one in question > Edit >
Idle timeout minutes: 61
