Activity creation through the CMI integration fails after an update or rollback to version 11.0.0.1

Troubleshooting

Problem

The creation of an activity fails if using the CMI integration after an update or rollback to version 11.0.0.1. The following error is reported by the cleartool mkact -task command.

cleartool: Error: INTERNAL ERROR detected and logged in "/var/adm/clearcase/log/error_log".
cleartool: Warning: Unable to perform one or more Change Management actions. Please see the Change Management log for details.

Then in /var/adm/clearcase/log/error_log, you will see this error message:
Internal Error detected in "/vobs/atria/lib/CM_Integration/lib/cmi/cmi_log.cxx" line 75 cleartool/cmi: Error: Unable to open log file "/var/adm/clearcase/log/cmi_log".

Symptom

  1. You have installed ClearCase 11.0.0, and you have set up the CMI integration. Then you update to ClearCase 11.0.0.1, and you try to create an activity after the update operation.
  2. You have installed ClearCase 11.0.0 or 11.0.0.1, and you have set up the CMI integration. Then you update to ClearCase 11.0.0.3. After the update operation, you do a rollback of the installation to the previously installed version, and you try to create an activity.
