This document describes how to download IBM Storage Protect Plus 10.1.17.

Download Description

Note: The product now known as IBM Storage Protect Plus was named IBM Spectrum Protect Plus in levels earlier than 10.1.15. To learn more about the brand change, see IBM Spectrum Protect brand change to IBM Storage Protect.

Images on Fix Central online

To get the most current features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Storage Protect Plus from a previous version or release. Maintenance packages (fix packs) and interim fixes are delivered on Fix Central.

Fix Central is a secure website that requires you to log in using your IBMid. You can acquire an IBMid at Sign up to IBMid.
You can locate the packages on the Fix Central online website by using the product name, version, and platform as the search query. For example, use the "IBM Storage Protect Plus". The HTTPS link in the download list directs to the Fix Central online website.

However, these maintenance packages and interim fixes available through Fix Central do not contain the required license enablement files. For initial installation of IBM Storage Protect Plus, you must obtain your package, with the associated license enablement files, from the Passport Advantage Online website.

Note: Hereafter 10.1.17 Service Packs (iFix releases) will have only the upgrade package released. For fresh deployments user has to download the mod release (in this case 10.1.17) & then apply the update to the latest iFix release.

The Passport Advantage Online website offers complete images of IBM Storage Protect Plus for download. The packages available through Passport Advantage are the base level packages.

The Passport Advantage Online website is a secure website that requires an account ID and password. It has all of the component and platform packages associated with IBM Storage Protect Plus available for download. The HTTPS link in the download list directs to the Passport Advantage Online website.

To download and assemble the installation parts for IBM Storage Protect Plus, complete the following steps:

Go to the Passport Advantage Online website, click Customer sign in, and sign in by using your IBMid and password.
In the Software and services online page, click Software download & media access.
Use one of the search options under Browse your entitled software to find the link to the IBM Storage Protect Plus product.
The fulfilled program number for IBM Storage Protect is 5737-F11.
On the product download page, verify that the Required checkbox is selected, and then click Download.
The following table contains the descriptions and part numbers of the parts for IBM Storage Protect Plus.
When the download is finished, unpack each downloaded part into a single temporary directory on your system.
To install the product, follow the instructions in the IBM Storage Protect Plus product documentation.

Note: With the vSnap VADP Combo images, you can install more vSnap servers if it is required in larger backup enterprise environments. You can also create proxies to run VMware backup jobs through vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP) in Linux environments. The proxies reduce demand on system resources by enabling load sharing and load balancing. Those images can be installed at any time after the IBM Storage Protect Plus server component is installed and deployed.

Important: Verify that all vSnap servers are upgraded before you begin the IBM Storage Protect Plus server upgrade to a newer version.

Note:

When you update IBM Storage Protect Plus, at a minimum, you must have enough free space to complete the installation. For this release, you must have 12 GB available in the /data directory for offline updates and 6 GB available in the /tmp directory for online update. Additionally, you must have 1.5 GB free in the /var directory and 2 GB free in the root directory.
Do not change the names of the files that you download. The original file names are required for the installation or update process to complete without errors.
For the hostname of the OVA deployment, do not use a name that includes the underscore character "_".
